Red boards with gilt design of a sledge in the arctic in gilt on front; re-backed with original spine laid down. Newer endpapers. Boards bumped and soiled. Edges soiled. Interior is very clean. Slight warping to pages at bottom edge. Soiling to steel engraving of Hall at frontis. Large folding map (Map of the North Polar Region) backed on linen is in wonderful shape. Good condition overall.

Narrative of the residence of the late Capt. C.F. Hall among the Eskimos plus a narration of his journals and note-books of his second exploration including his voyage to Repulse Bay, sledge journeys to the Straits of Fury and Hecla and to King William's Land. Red binding seemingly unusual for this issue.
