B&W map endpapers. xv, 498 pp. [37] pp. B&W illustrations incl. frontis portrait of Major General Patrick Cleburne. Laid-in errata to rfep. Light bumps to spine ends. Dust jacket is chipped to spine head (repaired with tape), light bumping to edges, damp staining to spine. Patrick Ronayne Cleburn, born in County Cork, Ireland in 1828, was the only Confederate general who had been an enlisted man in the British Army. He was an aggressive and tenacious fighter, as well as a gifted speaker and writer. His battle reports, all of which appear in this book, are some of the best rendered during the war and are masterpieces of clarity and description.
