The Bound to Win series was also a comic strip between 1927 and 1934, and Ben Webster, who makes an appearance in this book, was the subject of a comic strip from 1934-1940. Illustrated with a glossy frontispiece and 3 inserted plates by Phil Schaeffer. 208 pp plus 8 pp publisher's ads.

From the dustjacket flap: "The most important outpost of the Seven Seas Shipping Corporation where Phil Hardy is employed is the beautiful island of Pernambia in the Caribbean Sea. But tragedy comes to the force of men employed by the company on the tropical isle. First thefts, then drownings are reported to the home office back in the city.
