About This Item
Oxford, 1956, 1st, OUP. Cloth, 6x9, 314p, DW, tape on top and bottom edges. Illust by C. Walter Hodges. An historical adventure set in 14th C. England. Believing that her father, Sir Robert de Renneville and her brother have been killed at the battle of Bannockburn, a girl attends to an sick and feverish stranger, who reveals during a lucid moment that they are really alive and awaiting ransom. However, no one in the household believes her, so she sets out in company with Sir Robert's squire to ride to the rescue. The children's journey from the south of England seems entirely convincing against its extremely colorful and detailed background.
Not ex-library, no internal marks, clean and tight.
