About This Item

London: George Allen & Unwin Ltd, 1936. First Edition in English. Very Good/Good. A true first English language edition, predating the American publication. Translated by F. H. Lyon. Based on the Danish translation of 1934 and revised by the author. In the original, unclipped (8s. 6d. net), jacket in protective sheet. General wear with chipping, short tears, toning, and rubbing [though there are issues, I admit to finding them appropriate for both the imagery of the jacket and the content of the book]. Bound in red cloth over boards with black lettering on the front and spine. Darkening at edges, some rubbing, and one slightly bumped corner. Red top-stain. Short inscription on front pastedown and former seller notes in pencil on ffep. The interior is lightly and evenly toned, it is clean and clear with strong text.

Pages: 429 (1)     Dimensions: 7¾ x 5½ x 1½.

About John and Tabitha's Kerriosity Bookshop

I love books. Always an eager reader, I started collecting Antiquarian books while a teenager and studying history. Flash forward a couple of decades and I am excited to open a new all-digital bookstore to continue my love of books, while bringing desired books to readers, collectors, and other sellers. From Post-Incunables to modern First Editions, I will be regularly adding new stock.

Please reach out with any questions on books, their condition, or additional photos as needed.
