The second edition. First published in 1868. Illustrated with a folding monochrome frontispiece and 25 plates. Collated complete. In the publisher's original gilt cloth.This work was written and published by Benjamin Samuel Williams, an English orchidologist and nurseryman. Williams was best known for his works on Orchids, with his father being the gardener to Robert Warner, a botanist. This work provides a study of British and exotic ferns and includes plates illustrating the Victoria and Paradise Nurseries where he worked during this study. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally very smart with bumping to the extremities, marks to the boards and fading to the spine with front joint tender and very minimal loss to the head and tail of the spine. Slight marks to the endpapers with front hinge tender, rear hinge starting and past owner's initials to the front free endpaper. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages and scattered spotting to the front and rear and the odd spot throughout. Very Good
