Rand McNally, 1930-01-01. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 1930, Rand McNally. This is the very scarce original 1930 hardback first edition and not the slightly less scarce 1938 reprint. With 91 numbered pages and collects four stories (Pigtails, Valentine Box, Easter Bunny's Eggs, and Christmas Tree) of the black-stocking doll who lives with her family in the "Comical Doll House down by Crooked Lane". Full bound orange cloth boards, with large illustration pasted down to front board and black lettering to front and spine. Black and white illustrated endpapers. No DJ. Illustrated by Esther Friend. Binding is solid and square, with some rubbing to edges and corners. Spine somewhat faded/darkened. Very small chip to pasted down illustration on front board, touching the cow's tail. Numerous black and white; red, black and white; and blue, black and white illustrations.
