Grafton Books, London, 1988. First Edition. Softcover. Good Condition. Acknowledgements, dedication and introduction by author. Photographic paperback binding with black coloured titles to the front panel and black and pink coloured titles to the back strip. Black-and-white photograph of author to the verso of the front panel. The author was 13 when she was sent to Auschwitz, where she was a victim of Doctor Josef Mengele's experiments, was then transferred to Dachau, where she escaped and found refuge in Vienna and later Italy. But, when victory had been announced she, and Cossacks and others who had fought alongside the Nazis, were repatriated back to Russia  as part of the Yalta Agreement terms. This is her story. A previous owner has covered the book in a clear coloured plastic. Uniform tanning of the text block edges and pages. Previous owners' rubberstamp to the lower edge of the half title page and top edge of the title page. White coloured sticker to the lower edge of the back strip.
