Timothy J. Minchin is senior lecturer in American history at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. He is the author of four books on southern history, including Hiring the Black Worker: The Racial Integration of the Southern Textile Industry, 1960-1980, which won the 1999 Richard A. Lester Prize for the best book in industrial relations and labor economics.
