First line

While still a young man, in the city of Lubavitch, White Russia, the Rebbe was entrusted by his father, the 5th Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Shalom Dovber Schaneersohn to represent the Chabad-Lubavitch movement at many Rabbinical conferences, at which great, distinguished spiritual leaders of European Jewry met to discuss the serious problems facing their communities: pogroms, often encouraged and/or tolerated by the authorities, vicious discriminatory edicts; efforts from within and without to wean Jews from their faith, etc.
