Clean and readable. This is a compilation by Louis Szathmary of four Midwestern community cookbooks, dating to 1903, 1939, 1918 and 1954, and reproduced as facsimiles, ads and all. Chef Szathmary was a student of the history of cookery, and he has contributed an introduction and several recipes which he has tested and adjusted for modern styles.
