Charles James Apperley, who wrote under the pseudonym 'Nimrod', was a Welsh sportsman and writer, specialising in fox-hunting and horse-racing. Apperley gained popularity from his numerous articles published in 'The Sporting Magazine', and went on to write many books such as, 'Hunting Reminiscences', and 'Nimrod Abroad'. This work covers fox-hunting, which is referred to as 'The Chace', horse-racing, referred to as 'The Turf', and private horse and carriages, titled 'The Road'. Lacking the publisher's catalogue to the final two pages of the book. Rebound in full morocco. Externally, excellent with minor shelf wear. Fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound.
