Original beige cloth covers with stamping in silver on the spine and front cover. Black and white illustrations throughout. Covers rubbed and toned. Front hinge tender. Laid in is a copy of The Vassar Miscellany Vol. XXXV May 1906 and The Vassar Miscellany News Vol. VIII February 23, 1924 with information about Adelaide Skeel. Adelaide Skeel was a little-known early American photographer, lecturer and writer. A scarce copy in good condition.

Davies crossed out his printed name on the title page in black ink and signed beneath it in the same. From the personal collection of Greg Gatenby- Canadian writer, poet and founder of the Harbourfront Reading Series and the International Festival of Authors in Toronto. Gatenby was an early supporter of Canadian writers and knew Robertson Davies well. With Gatenby's signature on the front free endpaper. Light surface wear. Bump to spine extremities. No dust jacket. Robertson Davies (1913-1995) was an award-winning Canadian novelist, poet, playwright, critic, journalist and professor.
