Splendid collection of 21 fine engravings of London buildings, with short accompanying descriptions. St Paul's, Westminster Abbey, 'Buckingham House', Horse Guards, Carlton Place, Pantheon, Bank of England and Westminster Bridge among the subjects. Some foxing and a little marking. Bound in half-leather with marbled paper boards, all heavily worn. Gilt titling to spine. Scarce. Folio. 20pp + plates.

A 10 volume set of The K-H Newsletters including all issues from No.1 of 30th June 1936 to No. 259, 26th June 1941. Thus providing a complete weekly record of the period from rearmament to the mid Second World War. The analysis of King-Hall, playwright, submariner, and during the life of this newsletter, MP, is fascinating, circulated to subscribers (of which there were 602 at launch) and providing information and views from many parts of the Empire and beyond. 10 x uniform volumes bound in green cloth boards with bright gold titling. Some very light spotting to edges, but justifying 'near fine' condition. Volumes 1 to 7 signed by Steven King-Hall. Full leather with gilt rules to front and rear, bands to spine and gilt titling to red leather label. Boards and spine worn to all edges but still attractive. Exceptionally scarce first edition of cornerstone work by Harris, founder of the Pentecostal League. In VG internal condition. Tissue guard to frontispiece is slightly foxed and endpapers browned. Red cloth cover with gold titling, faded to front and spine.

First thus, though title page notes "forming a new and considerably enlarged edition of Macdonnel's Dictionary Of Quotations". In general good order throughout. Pages lightly toned with only very occasional marks, title page a little more so. Block marbled to all edges. Marbled endpapers opening a little at front hinge, though binding firm and tight. Belfast: John Henderson, 1844. Hardcover. Good/no d/j. 12mo. Exceptionally scarce Belfast-published collected works of the Scots-born poet who emigrated to the US in 1794 and is regarded as the founder or American ornithology and an inspiration for Audubon. Includes fascinating memoir with much on Wilson's life in America and the creation of his nine-volume masterwork, American Ornithology. Frontispiece and engraved title showing Wilson and birds of prey respectively. This, second title and contents rather spotted, but thereafter all is generally clean and bright until the last couple of pages of the glossary and rear endpaper. Block marbled to all edges. Binding tight. Former owner's name neatly to first blank. Well worn half leather with worn marbled paper. Some loss to leather titlepiece. 12mo. xxxviii + 504pp

Stock is occasionally lightly marked, a little toned but in general good order. Stab binding with silk thread. London: Simpkin, Marshall & Co, 1856. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Exceptionally scarce. Only one copy in world libraries. No evidence that a volume 2 ever appeared. Engraved folding map with inset scenes as frontispiece, a little spotted and open at one fold. Bird's-eye views of the villa plan of Nottingham Park also present as called for, this rather more foxed and with greater wear along folds. Other engravings in text. Wide ranging and thoroughly entertaining guide, seemingly willing to explore attractions missed by others (eg. Mr Hall's Starch Works, New Lenton, and descents into the coal pits of Notts) among all the usual topics. All in good internal order. Just occasional foxing. Bookplate of George Creswell Bond to front pastedown. All edges of block marbled. However front hinge is loose and spine has lifted away from the block. This looks, to me, quite repairable.
