Three quarter leather and cloth, frontis., (portrait of H. W. Graber), 442 pp., preface. An extensive narratives relating to the 8th Texas Cavalry and his reminiscences of early Ellis and Dallas Counties. His experiences during the Civil War include his being wounded in Tennessee and captured, he tried to escape, and was imprisoned. Eventually he was paroled and rejoined his command in time to take part in the middle Tennessee Campaign. He returned to Texas at the end of the war after declining parole and requesting to be sent home. One of the rarest and desirable of the Texas Confederate regimentals. 1907 First edition, volume one (all published). The author served as a junior officer under McCulloch, Ross, and Nathan Bedford Forrest. Howes J-152. Nevins II, p. 225. Corners slightly bumped. Lt. Collins was born in East Tennessee & moved to Texas, settling in Decatur. Early in 1862, he joined the Confederate army & rose to the rank of lieutenant in Co. B, 15th Texas Cavalry, Cleburne's Division. Fought at Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Nashville, etc. Collins' narrative is well written and informative. Special Limited First Edition, #3 of 25 copies. Full maroon leather with leather lining inside front and back of book. With gilt lettering on spin and gilt illustration on the front. Various regiments of Ross' Brigade were engaged early in the war in the Indian Territory. The participated in battle of Pea Ridge, crossed the Mississippi to fight at Iuka and Corinth, then fought in the Atlantic Campaign, and the Tennessee Campaign. Lt. Griscom dairy comprises the text of the book and his diary was comprehensive and revealing. previous owners name plate pasted inside. Maps 255 pp.

Good who commanded a battery of Texas artillery. The only Texas artillery unit to serve East of the Mississippi in many battles. Organized in 1861 with 50 men each from Dallas & Tyler.209 pp.

First Edition Maroon Half-Leather. #411 of 500 copies. This is Illustrated by John Groth. This limited editon in two volumes, is in a beautiful slip cased, with red leather spines and buckram covered boards. Paper labels on spines and front boards. Volume one is signed by the editor, the illustrator and by O. Scott Petty, the author's Grandson, who wrote the introduction.
