Faint creasing to first ten pages. Rear hinge invisibly repaired. In a near fine dust jacket with some restoration at spine ends and extremities. An attractive copy of a very scarce book in jacket.

Spine of book a little darkened. Otherwise very good in a perfect as new (supplied) dust jacket. Author's first novel. Owner signature at top of front free endpaper of Boardman [Mike] Robinson. Inscribed by Eastman on second blank leaf: "To Mike / with my love / Max / Nov. 18, 1927." Eastman's novel based on the life of John Reed. Eastman's acquaintance with both Reed and Robinson dates to his time at The Masses, to which Reed contributed articles and Robinson illustrations. Reed and Robinson had collaborated previously on The War in Eastern Europe [1916]. A fine association copy.
