THE LEARNING TREE was the first film directed by an African American and financed by a major Hollywood studio, Warner Brothers. Writer-director Gordon Parks adapted his autobiographical novel about a black teenager growing up in Kansas in the 1920s. The film was one of the first twenty-five movies selected in 1989 for preservation as part of the United States National Film Registry.

Margaret Sanger (1879-1966) was an American nurse who became a birth control activist, sex educator, writer, and speaker. She opened the first birth control clinic in the United States and later established the organizations that evolved into Planned Parenthood. She is credited with popularizing the term ""birth control."" Marcia Cohen's screenplay dramatizes Sanger's life from roughly 1914 through 1916, the period when she first became a public figure. Unfolded, with just a couple of minute nicks in the blank left margin, JUST ABOUT FINE. Jim Jarmusch's first feature film, a landmark, surreal comedy laiden with dead- pan humor. There were two different posters for the movie -- this one, with a scene at a frigid Lake Erie, and another from the film's finale in Pensacola. There are numerous later repros of this poster on the market, but they measure 40 x 27"", and are printed only in black, whereas this poster is printed in black and brown.

Filmed at the Seattle World's Fair of 1962, this is a time capsule. Great musical moments from Elvis. Elvis is seen as he appears in the film, holding a Reveille guitar. This special poster was approved by MGM as a merchandising piece to cross promote the guitar and the film in music stores. A facsimile of Elvis'-signature appears boldly at the left. Poster was originally folded, but it was on thin paper, and it was in very clean condition to begin with. NEAR FINE on linen.

Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, Lola Lane, Isabel Jewell, Mayo Methot, Jane Bryan, dir: Lloyd Bacon; Warner Brothers. Brilliant tale of hostesses told with as much candor as post-Production Code Hollywood was allowed. Working girl Bette Davis displays herself in one of her most glamorous gowns on this fine Warner Brothers poster of the period. The beaded gown (represented in red on this card) was made for her by Orry-Kelly. This is the film which marked Bette Davis' return to Warner Brothers after she walked out on the studio, fed up with the weak roles they were giving her. She got her wish in this role. Here she plays Mary Dwight, the cynical, world-weary hostess of a club run by gangsters. Living with the other hostesses of the club, her kid sister comes to visit and the truth of their means of living must be hidden. Fine.The classic 1960s action-crime thriller, with an iconic performance by Steve McQueen playing the San Francisco cop who becomes obsessed with finding the underground leader responsible for the deaths of witnesses in his protection. Here is one of the finest and most rare posters for this classic title. This example does not appear to have ever been used. Prior to expert linen backing, it showed only very minor shelf wear and shows just minor shelf wear, such as three minor fold juncture separations, a bit of creasing at the very edges and a few minor spots of soiling in the white background. On linen, there was some fold line separation, especially at edge borders, there has been some minor inpainting in the area of the words "MY" and "LIPS", but poster has extraordinary, bright, original colors, near fine.An extremely rare poster and one of the earliest to feature star Clara Bow prominently. Long believed to be a lost film, a nitrate print was found and has been preserved. The film is a romance with a suspense twist in which William Powell plays the debonair character he became famous for and Clara Bow as the ultimate jazz baby.

Newman, Jack Arnold: Universal. Poster is rolled and displays a fair amount of creasing at edges, particularly at the top and bottom. There is inner creasing, more evident in the title box area. Tears at edges have been repaired with brown tape and there are a few small unrepaired edge tears. The top image portion with portrait of Domergue and Reason and the alien to the right is a pasteover and the foot area of the alien has lifted slightly, very good.One of the top science fiction classics of the 1950s. The story involved aliens coming to Earth to engage scientists in a scheme to wage war and destroy the planet. Brigitte Bardot at the absolute beginning of what was to be a legendary career. At the time, Bardot was either 15 or 16 (with her birthday September 28, 1934). She was the daughter of a wealthy family and had begun what might have been a career in ballet after enrolling at the Conservatoire de Paris. At this point, she caught the attention of Helene Lazareff, director of the fashion magazine ELLE, where Bardot began to appear as a model for kids' fashions. Director Marc Allegret noticed her in ELLE and asked to meet her, after which he shot these photos. Allegret's assistant at the time was none other than Roger Vadim, who eventually became her director and, for a while, her husband. Motif Editions. No binding. Fine. Andy Warhol (producer) [London]: Motif Editions, 1970. Vintage original 30 x 20" (76 x 51 cm.) British poster. Unfolded, fine. Andy Warhol's massive 3 1/2-hour film Chelsea Girls was meant to be presented on two screens with only one of the two available soundtracks being played (the projectionist could choose which two soundtracks to use). The film had some kind of truncated showing in London soon after the New York premiere in 1966.In 1968 it received its first intact screenings in London, with the two screens simultaneously showing the different reels of film as intended. For that four-day event, pop illustrator Alan Aldridge created this poster for the London Arts Laboratory. The young woman in it is Chare Shentsone, 16, a budding artist who later became close to Francis Bacon. There was an edition of this poster printed in 1968 to be posted outdoors over London.
