One of an unknown number of unnumbered copies bound thus, in addition to 26 lettered copies, and 100 numbered, and some unnumbered copies, in wrappers, all signed by the author and the artist. This was the poet's own copy, inscribed to him by the artist ("Thanks De") on the colophon, with an original pencil drawing (with colored highlights) of two figures, seemingly the poet and the artist, on the colophon. Snodgrass's library blindstamp appears in the upper forecorner of the free endsheet.

Very good, with some wear to extremities, and lacking a pictorial cover illustration. Colour frontis. 304 pages, and 18 pages of publisher's ads. An important association copy, with a full page , handwritten dedication to Isabel Thorn, who is credited on the dedication page. Author's handwritten presentation on the front endpaper, also credits Thorn with helping to create Sanders and Bosambo. Three printed poems of Wallace are tipped to the front paste down, and the 2 endpapers, following the presentation inscription. The signature is dated " the day of the blockade, Feb. 18, 1915. This copy came from the library of Frederick Niven, who was married to Isabel Thorn's daughter, Mary. There are also some annotations to the Contents page, probably in Thorn's hand, but impossible to be sure..

First Edition. 405 pages, "Roster and Record," index, original brown cloth binding with gold emblem on the front cover, and title in gilt on spine, both covers decorated with bands in blind, very good condition (mild shelf wear to edges, not affecting contents).

A chronicle of the IX Corps, written by seven different veterans. The name of a former owner is written in a neat hand on the front fly leaf: "Serg. John A. Fisher Northfield Mass." He is listed in the book on pages 171 and 369, as being wounded at Spottsylvania, before being discharched in 1864. Also, according to a separate note inserted in the book, Fisher's cousin was Joseph Austin Harris, listed on page 371; discharged in 1865.
