Green cloth, gilt lettering and decoration. frontispiece portrait of author, illustrations by John Tenniel. Text is in Japanese with English translation on opposite pages. Book is in very good very lightly used condition, text is mildly age-toned, former owner's bookplate on front pastedown, bookseller's ticket on rear pastedown. Original dust jacket has 1-1 1/2 inch chips from head and tail, (slight loss of text), and light chipping along folds. A rare copy of an early c1930s Japanese imprint.

Helsinki: Gebers, 1956. 2nd Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. Second edition. pp. 142, illustrated throughout with vingnettes and half/full page illustrations by the author. Rubbed at the corners and along the edges of the boards. The block is reasonably fresh and not browned. Free from owner names etc, very clean. Signed in blue ink by Tove Jansson at the front endpaper, a nice copy.

Decorative map endpapers printed in black on green paper. Top edge gilt. A very good, bright copy in the original green cloth, with gilt stamped decorations of Christopher Robin and Pooh to front board. Gilt still very bright. Cloth is marked to the top of the front board and a few spots to the rear but is generally very clean and fresh. A remarkable tight, fresh clean and unmarked copy throughout. The book looks unread. A lovely copy in original illustrated better than very good dustwrapper showing some minor creasing to the top edge but overall a verry clean and bright example. A superior early copy of this classic.
