A couple of small scratch marks on the back cover. Small bookseller's label on front pastedown endpaper. All three pop-ups working and unrepaired. Soil or fingering marks to margins of a few of the pages, but generally still bright and clean. Could not have passed through too many children's hands. Three colour pop-ups and black and white in-text illustrations. .

Blind stamped on upper board, gold titles on spine. Some wear to corners and spine ends. Top edge of spine faded. A few small spots on boards. Various degrees of foxing to the endpapers, most preliminary pages (including title page) , some of the plates, and on the fore-edge. Previous owner's name and date on the front free endpaper. Page paper lightly toned. Some pencil underlining and notes on pages 27 to 43. Dustjacket has heavy edge wear, with chips, creases, and tears. Some overall soiling with a couple of moisture marks. Sound and square binding in blue, cloth-covered boards. Some wear to corners and edges. Spine darkened. A bit of staining and rubbing to both boards. Top edge of text block has some foxing. Previous owner's name in pencil on back side of frontispiece. Otherwise, inside pages are clean and unmarked with light toning. Dustwrapper has heavy wear to top edge and tail of spine, with paper loss at both spine ends and upper corners. Some creases, small stains, and edge tears. Spine darkened. Minor wear to corners and edges. Some discoloration to the cloth along the edges and the spine, possibly from glue used. Top of text block is dusty. Inside pages are clean, bright and unmarked. Dustjacket has edge wear, more so at spine ends, corners and on folds. Back panel has a sticker shadow mark, foxing, and soiling. Price clipped. The first novel by Canadian novelist and playwright Timothy Findley. .

London: Thomas Nelson and Sons. Very Good-. [1920]. Hardcover. 159 p. 26 cm. Sound and square with cloth backed spine. Coloured pastedown illustration on upper board. Corners rounded and worn through. Edges worn. Bottom of spine is slightly frayed. Upper board has a couple of small pull marks and stains. Lower board has darkened has has a stain along the bottom front corner. Inside, the endpapers are discoloured, the front free heavily so. The pages have occasional soiling, mostly in the margins, and are slightly age toned. One plate has a closed tear that extends 1" into the illustration and which has been repaired with acid free PVA. Still quite attractive, overall. A collection of stories and poems by such authors as Ethel Talbot and Angela Brazil, with six full colour plates by Scottish illustrator Anne Anderson, and pen and ink illustrations by her and her husband Allan Wright. .

Crinkle mark across the top edge of the spine. Gift inscription on the front free endpaper. Otherwise, the inside pages are clean and unmarked, with one tiny dog-eared corner.
