From Wiikiipedia: George English was an American Marine was commissioned a second lieutenant. He sailed to the Mediterranean, and was among the first citizens of the United States known to have visited Egypt. Shortly after arriving in Egypt he resigned his commission, converted to Islam and joined Muhammad Ali Pasha as the Topgi Bashi (chief of artillery) in an expedition up the Nile River against Sennar 1820, winning distinction as an officer of artillery. Some historians have noted that "there is a high probability that he became a secret agent" and that his service in Egypt was a part of that intelligence service. He published his Narrative of the Expedition to Dongola and Sennaar (London 1822) regarding his exploits.This volume is the frist American edition, published one year later than the English edition. Nader Shah, also known as Qoli Khan, was a Persian shah known for being one of the most powerful Iranian rulers in the history of the Middle East. And while he was powerful, his power corrupted him, and he became exceedingly cruel to his subjects. So much so that it led to his assassination by a group of a dozen or more conspirators.
He led numerous successful military campaigns often being compared to Napoleon and Genghis Khan. These military conquests, along with his political influence and treasure hunts, were reported by several European historians including Andre de Claustre. This work also contains descriptions of Persian King Tahmasp II and the Safawid Dynasty.
One of the most famous accounts described in this book is of Nader Shah's pillaging of the treasures of the Great Mogul. Per Briant,

Dominique Bouhours was a 17th-century Jesuit historian and author known for his treatises on the French language, secrets, and curious humor. He also published a historical account of the life of Pierre d'Aubusson, a 15th-century Hospitaller zealot who radically opposed the Ottomans. Bouhours account is largely considered imaginative since little is known of d'Aubusson's early years; still, though, this work is a fascinating and important look into Knight Hospitaller crusades against the Ottoman Turks in the 1400s. The most important aspect of this book is the overview of the Siege of Rhodes at the gulf of Trianda, whose defense was led by d'Aubusson.

In 1683, a series of battles between Ottoman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire turned into what is now known as the Great Turkish War. Much of the war came to a head in 1686 when various Ottoman sieges created more hostility between the two sides. A year later, a Nurnberg-based publishing house produced a chronicle of the events of the war – "Hungarisch-tuerckische Chronick". This 1867 edition contains numerous full-page and folding engravings depicting iconic figures, battle scenes, and charts.
