The blue cloth is just lightly rubbed a touch at the tips and slightly age mellowed, the jacket is whole and attractive with some age, a little spotting and some rubbing, the spine toned. FIRST EDITION. Lawrence made his way into the service on two occasions by using adopted names. In August 1927, writing from Karachi, he told Edward Garnett that he had arranged notes in sections and was copying them as a Christmas gift to Garnett. Lawrence told Garnett that he wrote the book tightly, “because our clothes are so tight, and our lives so tight in the service. This Corporation Report No. XIX (published in 1947) was part of a series directed by President Roosevelt to analyze the effect of air power and bombing raids during World War II to determine "future economic policies with respect to the national defense." Intelligence, Japanese air depot production graphs, location maps and lists of U.S. attacks against targets are described in detail. First Naval Air Depot (Kasumigaura), Eleventh, Twenty-first (Omura), and Koza Naval Air Depot, and Tachikawa Army Air Arsenal are all reported upon. Many maps and fold out graphs, all in fine condition. Includes a bibliography of survey reports (pg 64-65) "resulting from the Survey's studies of the European and Pacific wars". Some minor tanning to edges of paper wrappers and a barely noticeable fold line to front bottom right corner. Maps and interior without tears or markings.

This is the first edition of the classic Latin text of Casaubon relating to the Greek and Roman military, together Aeneas's tactical memoir. Originally published in 1609 in Greek and Latin. Ex reference library, which probably explains its survival, with 19th century library labels on spine, pictorial bookplate on rear pastedown and numbers hand-written in pencil on reverse of title page. Hand-written presentation note in ink on front free endpaper dated 1871. Some loss of paper at front pastedown, no rear free endpaper. Some foxing /marking and signs of age in text , generally the inner book is clean and in remarkably good condition for its age.
