Wien: S. Czeiger. 1895. First Edition. Originally issued in 25 wrappered parts folio size, housed in 2 book folders with decorative front cover boards, containing 870 pages with 102 full page colour plates by Rudolph von Ottenfeld of soldiers in uniform, uniforms and weapons of the Austrian Army covering the period 1700 to 1867, plus many other illustrations in the text. THIS SET IS LACKING PART 13 consisting of pages 403 to 442 and 5 plates leaving a total of 98 plates. The plates and text are in near fine condition, the book folders the folio's are housed in have some marks especially the rear board of folder 1. The work of Rudolph von Ottenfeld is considered to be the most accurate depiction of the Austrian Armies of the 18th and 19th Centuries and stands amongst the top ten of Uniform books and is without a doubt the definitive study of the Austrian Army. Published in c. 1941 in Tientsin, China. A photo commemorative album for B.M.I.C.C.N. (Bataillon Mixte d'Infanterie Coloniale de Chine du Nord ). Inscribed and signed by someone as showed. Printed photos all the album, describing every aspect of the B.M.I.C.C.N. Captions in French.
Extremely rare. No OCLC/worldcat record. No record in any Library or in Google etc. Extremely probably the only one in the world considering the Japanese's occupying the French Concession at almost the same time of the printing time of this book.

Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Batty (1789-1848) army officer and artist Batty compiled books illustrated with plates etched by himself. He served in the Peninsular War, in the Duke of Wellington's 1815 Campaign, at Waterloo, where he was injured in the thigh. "Following Wellington's victory, Batty entered Paris with the 3rd battalion on 7 July, having en route been at the storming of the fortress of Péronne on 26 June.
