Well illustrated with many plates, two folding maps, large 8vo, pp xvi, 390, neat contemporary inscription on the front endpaper, some foxing and browning throughout, a little smoky, decorated cloth gilt, a little worn and marked, spine faded and with two holes at the base. Text block very slightly trimmed. Old owner name and date 1932 on front pastedown where bookplate removed. No other owner marks or writing on any pages. Solid binding, clean pages, light foxing on only a few pages (nearly all pages have no foxing). Crease mark lower front cover and cracking to front pastedown paper corresponding to crease mark on cover (see photo). Page 81 has a small paper repair in the outside margin (see photo).
