Cloth spine is lightly rubbed at ends and along joints; boards are lightly edgeworn and show general light soiling. Negligible foxing along fore-edge of bookblock but clean within. About very good.

George Gordon Byron, more commonly known as Lord Byron, was an English poet and a prominent figure in the Romantic movement. He has always been regarded as one of Britain's greatest poets. His play 'Werner', or 'The Inheritance'
was his attempt to transform theater at the time. 'Werner' was an adaptation of Harriet Lee's "Kruitzner" though it was poorly received at the time and has not gained much following since.
This 1823 English edition was published in London by Murray.

1663 TERENCE Comedies Greek Roman Plays Theatre Terentii Comoediae Edinburgh

Terence was a 2nd-century BC Roman playwright who is most remembered for his comedies. His six plays, which all survive, were composed after he was freed from slavery. His plays were composed in simple Latin and were popular during the Middle Ages, despite having prevalent themes of paganism throughout.

This 1663 edition contains the main six comedies of Terence.

Publications Willy Fischer, 1932. First Edition. Ludo, a comedy in three acts by the renowned French journalist, novelist and playwright, Pierre Scize (pseudonym for Michel Joseph Piot, 1894 -1956). Scize was hit by a shell in the first months of WWI, losing his arm. With all that remained of him, Scize started to write. He wrote for L'Œuvre, Bonsoir, Paris-Journal, Canard Enchaine, La Figaro and was a member of one of the first ciné-clubs, Ricciotto Canudo's CASA, becoming a film critic for Candide and Paris Soir. Small octavo, illustrated paper wrappers, 24 pages, photographically illustrated with art deco advertisements and portraits of the company in black & white throughout, near fine. Rare.

Ruth Michaels was a showgirl, actress, dancer, and model in the early 1900's. This 8 inch by 10 inch black and white photo of her is an extremely rare item.
On the back of the photo, Ms. Michaels has written her name, address, and phone number.
This is then followed by a description of herself and a brief resume:

Thew, Robert. Fanny Kemble (Butler) as Isabella, "Merciful Heaven!" New York: Johnson, Fry & Co., 1859. Engraving, portrait print by Robert Thew of Frances Anne "Fanny" Kemble Butler (1809-1893) in costume as Isabella in William Shakespeare's Measure for Measure. The sheet measures 10 in x 7 ¼ in, with a vignette-decorated border of scenes from the play around an oval image, showing Fanny Kemble Butler in a full-figure pose. Once an illustration in a book, now disbound, with original tissue guard still attached, now torn. Slight chipping of the upper right-hand corner of the sheet, with no image loss.

Six signatures. There had been 6 artistic directors at the Dallas Theater Center in 50 years in 2009, when this book was issued. Three of the directors, plus relatives of the other 3, all signed this book. There was only one time when all these people were together: June 3, 2009. Dallas public TV station KERA hosted an evening called 6 at 50. The event was held at the Kalita Humphreys Theater, the only theater designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and the original venue of the DTC. The 3 directors attending were Adrian Hall, Richard Hamburger and Kevin Moriarity. Paul Baker's daughter, Robin Flatt (director of the Dallas Children's Theater), Ken Bryant's widow, actress Linda Gehringer and Preston Jones' nephew, Trey Birkhead. This event was a big deal because a lot of these people had issues with each other, 3 of them were fired, even though the Dallas Theater Center was a successful and groundbreaking theater company.
