Seeley, London. 1891. . 8vo, 421pp, with portrait frontispiece and plans. A good hardback copy in heavily flecked boards, with rubbed extremities, and light stain to front cover. Lightly tanned and foxed fore edges. Front hinge split but not separated. Bookseller stamp.

Scribner & Welford. Very Good. 1891. Hardcover. 421 pp; Top of spine worn with loss of cloth along the edge, book is otherwise quite nice tight and clean .

Seeley & Co. Very Good+ with No dust jacket as issued. 1896. Sixth Edition. Hardcover. A clean copy in burgundy boards, gilt titles. Some play at hinges, crumbling of endpapers and resultant threads showing, but still solidly bound. Boards show general edge, corner and cover wear. .

A library copy from Middelburg C P, with all labels and stamps removed except for a dedication label, "Louisa Mackinnon". Slight wear on hinges; a 10x2mm hole in cloth on rear.
