The Maracot Deep, and Other Stories

Doyle, Arthur Conan

Good. Black cloth., Without DJ novel / story Doubleday, Doran & Co. Garden City, NY 1929 Stated 1st ed. 7 1/2 x 5 1/4", 307 p., Edges show the usual wear for a book of this age. Binding is solid and the preliminaries, including the title page, are clean, Unfortunately, the librarian at "Soler's Famous Library" in Philadelphia got stamp-happy and hit the bottom margin EIGHT times with her rubber stamp. Then to make sure she got the point across, she finished with light stamps to the head and foot of the text block. Despite the predations of the heavy-handed stamper, the general appearance of this book is surprisingly good. And, as a reading copy, it's perfect.
