About the author

Nevra Necipoğlu, Ph.D. (1990) in History, Harvard University, is Associate Professor of History at Boğazii University. She has published numerous articles on the late Byzantine society, economy and politics, and is writing a book on Byzantine-Ottoman-Italian relations during the 14th and 15th centuries.
