About the author

Balzs Nagy is Associate Professor of Medieval History at the Etvs Lornd University, Budapest, and visiting faculty at the Department of Medieval Studies at the Central European University, Budapest. His main research interests are medieval economic and urban history.
Martyn Rady is Masaryk Professor of Central European History at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London. He was for ten years part of the team that edited and translated the corpus of the laws of medieval Hungary together with Jnos M. Bak.
Katalin Szende is Associate Professor of Medieval Studies at the Central European University, Budapest. Her research concentrates on medieval towns in the Carpathian Basin and Central Europe, with particular regard to society, demography, literacy, everyday life, and topography.
Andrs Vadas is Assistant Professor of Medieval History at the Etvs Lornd University, Budapest. His research interests are environmental and economic history of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period.
