Imprinted At London: by Robert Bakker [ Barker ] printer to the Lings most Excellent Maiestie, 1607 . 0. A complete Geneva version of the Holy Bible in black letter text. A very good later full vellum binding. 4to. 8.25" x 7.00" x 2.75". Plain yellowed vellum binding (probably early 19th century ?). Smooth spine with inked titles: "Deylingii Observationes Sacrae I. II. III." Hinges carefully strengthened. Later plain endpapers (handmade paper). The book starts with an engraved general title, with heart-shaped centre. The edges of the title are carefully strengthened and there is light soiling to the page. To the verso of the title is: "Of the incomparable treasure of the holy Scriptures..." The next leaf contains: "To the Christian Reader." and then to the verso: "How to take profit from reading of the holy Scriptures." The Old Testament is complete and ends on f. 358b (Yy 6b). f. 335 with 20% loss. Apocrypha runs from f.359 to f. 434a (Iii 2a). The engraved New Testament is also dated 1607, verso blank. 2 of the preliminary leaves are inserted before the New Testament title, the remaining leaf, ending with: "The names and order of all the Bookes..." is inserted befor the beginning of Matthew. The New Testament begins on f. 441 and ends on f. 554b. Followed by: "Two right profitable and fruitfull Concordances... Robert Barker, 1607." The text is complete, ending with a colophon, also dated 1607. Clear black letter text throughout. but leaves soiled, especially to the page edges. Page edges also trimmed, sometimes affecting a word in the marginal references. Corners are rounded and there are some small chips and tears to a few leaves.
