I suspect this was once a library book as there are barely visible erasure marks on the endpapers and tape ghosts on 4 cloth corners where the jacket had been attached to the book. The jacket image by Trevor Denning is the same as the first state jacket. However, the jacket price of 16s (not 15s) and the ad for the new book Nerve show it to be later state. Bound in original wine cloth with gold print. p. 206. The big and difficult Francis title. The book is clean and tight and unmarked . Dustwrapper is complete with a couple of quarter inch closed edge tears and slight spine panel scuff noted. Still lovely shelf presence and provided in clear archival-quality jacket protector at less than ten percent of the price of the first impression.
