Montreal, Canada: John Lovell, 1870. This is a scarce item of interest to anyone following the Bakewell genealogy. The booklet was published in 1870, a year after Rev. Frederick Bakewell died at the age of 41 in the infirmary of the Seminary of St. Sulpice in Montreal. He was born in England and emigrated to the United States as a child. He studied for the priesthood in Montreal, was ordained in Paris, and returned to St. Sulpice Seminary afterwards. The booklet measures 4"x6" and has 28 pages. At one time this was owned by the Bakewell family as evidenced by the notes inside the front cover. First is an inscription which reads, "Harry ----?, from his affectionate great uncle, June 25, 1939." The second reads "Uncle Paul was Granny Munroe's brother." The third says, " Father Bakewell was brother of Robert Armytage Bakewell." Included here is a holy card published to commemorate Robert Armytage Bakewell who died in St. Louis Mo. in 1926.The booklet is very clean inside and tightly bound. Only faults are some staining to front cover and a chip at bottom corner of front cover next to spine. A treasure for the right person. . Soft Cover. Good-plus.
