A good hardcover first edition overall with moderate shelf wear, fraying strated at the corners, color fading to cloth edges; hinges and binding solid, paper lightly yellowed throughout, with foxing to the endpapers. In a good edge worn dust jacket with chipping at the folds, and with the original price present.

He grew up in Ashfield, Massachusetts and Hanover, New Hampshire. He was an obstetrician and gynecologist, and he was instrumental in developing the procedure for caesarian sections. Later in life, he became interested in the history of his family and their home, "Forty Acres," which is now a museum." - Harvard University
