Scranton, PA: Self Published, 1941. Very good plus copy of this rare item, dated 1941. This is the only copy we have seen on the market in years. Green card stock with photos of four prominent buildings stapled to eight pages of Scranton history. The card stock is faded. There is a tiny closed tear at the bumped lower left corner. This very detailed history was written by Thomas F. Murphy, Associate Editor of The Scranton Times. The complete title of this work is History of the City of Scranton, Scranton Diamond Jubilee and Centennial Celebration 1941, History of Scranton's Founding and Incorporation of the City. Well written impressive compilation of broad ranging historic data. Sections include First Settlers New Englanders, Anthracite Basic Industry, Preview Celebration, Luzerne County Established, Abbott First Settler, Water Power and Charcoal, Coming of the Scrantons, Start In Building Mill, Contract For Rails and much more. This is a valuable book for those interested in the history of Scranton and Lackawanna County. We specialize in books about Scranton and the surrounding area.. First Edition. Wraps. Very Good Plus.
