London: William Pickering, 1827. Oxford English Classics. Volume IV only of an eight volume set. Red cloth bound volume has sunned title block on spine. 520 pages. Book opens onto an ad for a new literary annual The Bijou - there is no traditional fep. Front hinge is split and partly disbound at title page, although this sewn binding looks like it is easily repairable. Some foxing on half title and title page, last page and rear endpaper, but there does not seem to be foxing within the text. Rear hinge seems pretty strong. Thin boards have bumped corners, small bump to bottom and heel of spine. Large chip missing from top of spine. There is a thin line of what may be white paint on the front cover. Bookplate inside front cover, bookseller's penciled notations on first page. Thanks for shopping with us! 100% of your purchase benefits charity and supports literacy and lifelong learning.. Cloth. Poor/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

London: Bemrose & Sons , 1881. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket (as published). 5.5" X 8.5. 39pp., A classic study on the origins of place names in the English county of Derbyshire. The book includes some related ephemera, including a letter and several newspaper cuttings, mainly from the 1920s. (Includes the author's obituary). Some cuttings are stuck to the pages, but all text is still quite readable. There is the signature of a previous owner (William S Longbottom) at the top of the title page. William Longbottom was better known by his pen name of Horace Weir, the author of many works on the history of Derbyshire. Description:
London: Bemrose & Sons , 1881. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket (as published). 5.5" X 8.5. 39pp., A classic study on the origins of place names in the English county of Derbyshire. This copy has had a tough life, the spine strip is missing and both hinges are weak. The pages themselves are all soundly bound. Please note that this is a 19th century produced copy and not a modern reproduction. All orders processed and shipped promptly from the UK, usually within 24 hours. Please call or email with your questions about this book. Not available for…
