Amanda-Jane Doran explains why the Royal Academy Library is displaying a range of William Heath Robinson's book illustrations and explores the reasons why these are relatively far less well known than his cartoons of fantastic contraptions. Also included is a lovely feature on Winsor McCay's Dino by the scholar Dr Ulrich Merkl who has just published a staggering book on the work of the great McCay. There is also a feature on Beatrix Potter's unpublished Kitty-in-Boots story. Recently some of the authors own illustrations have surfaced at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
