First Impression of each volume; Third State of text in Return of the King, with signature mark and slipped text on p.49. The three volumes nicely preserved, straight and tight with just mild rubbing to board edges, in original unclipped dustwrappers. Fellowship with faint foxing to endpapers and fading to top-stain near spine, jacket unclipped and just slightly faded on spine panel; The Two Towers exhibiting slight mottling to boards, uneven fading to top-stain, jacket with two brief paper-tape reinforcements to verso, darkened and spotted on spine panel with red lettering somewhat faded (but still perfectly legible); Return of the King quite Near Fine, with top-stain bright and unrubbed, in clean, very slightly faded first issue jacket. Together, a quite presentable and unrestored set of Tolkien's much-loved and highly sought-after trilogy.
