Chicago: The Reilly & Lee Co, 1908. Hardcover. Very good. Illustrated by John R. Neill.. Number 2 in The Children's Red Book series. Square 8vo. Scarlet paper over boards printed in white and with a color oval vignette; illustrated endpapers. Printed Full page full color plates by John R. Neill. Light wear, especially to the edges, rubbing and soiling, but a very good copy; with an early gift inscription on the front free endpaper. The plates are quite bright. Originally printed in 1980, the edition with scarlet paperboards appeared first in 1910. Reilly and Britton, the copyright holders, became Reilly and Lee in 1918, so this copy must date from about that time. This is curious in itself as there was an intervening Reilly & Britton edition of 1915 bound in black paperboards. See Pictus Orbis Sambo, p. 290.
