Non authorial inscription on front endpaper, corners bumped and rubbed, exposing boards, heel of spine bumped, slightly cocked, else very good in the original dust wrapper, with printed spine label, unevenly faded and darkened, with loss to crown and heel of spine, some tears, but mostly complete and else good. .

The Trembling of the Veil was the second of Yeats's seven autobiographical works, and was described by Arthur Symons as "an absolute masterpiece: far & away the best thing Yeats has ever done" (Ross, p. 559). The following year, Yeats was awarded the Nobel prize for literature.

This copy is 617 of 1000. Frontisp. portrait, [2, viii], 248 pp. Octavo, publisher's binding of light blue paper boards with cream parchment back, cream spine label printed in brown; matching light blue endpapers; edges untrimmed. (Wade 133). Laid-in at the front of the volume, though previously tipped-in, is an 8 x 5 inch sheet signed by W. B. Yeats and dated April 4 1887. There is slight residue from removal of cello tape at top edge of the sheet and on the ffep. The book is fine, clean fresh, but for a small rubbed spot on upper board. In the publisher's light blue dust-jacket, with cream spine label printed in brown, that has darkened slightly, with shallow chipping at crown, and (cleanly) split along the upper spine fold.

Near Fine with light wear, light bumping to spine ends and corners. Dust jacket shows toning to the spine and edges, dust-soiling, and a closed tear at the top of each spine joint. An autobiographical work, signed by Yeats.
