Fifty -one illustrations being composed of b&w photographs ( many by Alan Villiers), b&w sketches by the author as well as the frontispiece in full colour. Map endpapers. Top corner of ffep has been cropped. Bound in green cloth, titled in gilt to the spine. Top edge dyed green; fore and bottom edges untrimmed; many pages unopened. Number 182 in a limited edition of 1000 signed by the author. Dust jacket is poor, missing some pieces to the top edges including an inch to the head and foot of the spine. The first part of the book is a wonderfully graphic account of the author's first trip to the West coast of North America, via Tristan da Cunha and Cape Horn in 1887 as a hand aboard a four-masted barque of twenty-three hundred tons. He returned , and in 1889 had his first view of the Okanagan Valley. The latter part of the book is his memories of the next sixty years..
