Considered by many at the time to be equal to a thorough, practical course in a veternary college, and copies of the book were only available through authorized dealers. Black pebbled cloth binding with gilt titles and horse illustration on front cover with blindstamped borders on front and back cover, gilt titles on spine, red stained page edges. Titles on spine rubbed off, some fading and rubbing of gilt on front cover, spotting, some edge wear, spine faded, corners and spine ends bumped, boards a bit bowed, hinges a bit weak and showing webbing, smudge on front free end paper, interior pages tanned, binding a bit shaken.
