Essentially a meditation aid to the first week of an Ignatian retreat. It was a hope of Saint Ignatius that the Spiritual Exercises be illustrated in a manner conducive to proper meditation on the subject matter and to be used somewhat as a reference. He actually had some drawings commissioned but being displeased with the cluttered nature of the initial drawings, he rejected them and the idea passed into obscurity as Ignatius died soon after. The author of this present work has kept to theme of a man naked before God placed in the situations described by Ignatius. The drawings are full page and done in pen and ink. The book ends with a triple colloquy on mercy with similair illustrations. 37 illustrations in total. Approbations (3) are present. Stain on lower spine and adjacent areas on the front and back covers from a previously present label. The covers are mildly soiled with minor edge wear. .
