[n.p.] New York: [n.d.] 1953: Audrey Wood, 1953 Williams, Tennessee. TALK TO ME LIKE THE RAIN AND LET ME LISTEN. [n.p.] New York: [n.d.] 1953. 8vo., 13 pp. rectos only. First Edition. Original one act playscript typed in black & with stage directions typed in red, punch bound blue stiff wrappers of the Liebling-Wood Agency, 551 Fifth Ave. New York. House File Copy. [Audrey Wood was Williams' literary agent. From 1939 Wood helped guide & focus Williams' writing. With her nurturing, he created some of his greatest works, including: Menagerie, Streetcar & Cat]. MAN [to Woman] "Well, talk to me like the rain and -- let me listen, let me lie here and -- listen ... [He falls back across the bed, rolls on his belly, one arm hanging over the side of the bed and occasionally drumming the floor with his knuckles. The mandolin continues] It's been too long a time since -- we levelled with each other. Now tell me things: What have you been thinking in the silence? -- While I've been passed around like a dirty postcard in the city ... Tell me, talk to me! Talk to me like the rain and I will lie here and listen." A fine example. Very uncommon in private hands.. Unsigned Playscript. 1st Edition.
