The front cover is a full-color painting showing a man-devil in red smiling menacingly down at a scene of a muscular woman in black wielding a riding crop, threatening a man in a brown suit, with a pretty blonde woman in black undies looks on in the background. A scarce example of lesbian pulp fiction, which with titles like Odd Girl Out, We Walk Alone Through Lesbos’ Lonely Groves, Warped Desire, Deviate Wife, etc., were largely targeted toward a male audience from the publisher’s point of view, but for many lesbians of the time these books offered a welcome chance to identify with a community.
