New Delhi: Lustre Press, 1992. A VG/VG copy of renowned Indian author Bond's loving look at the mountain region of Landour, where he has lived for much of his life. Bond, who has written more than 300 novels, novellas, articles and children's titles, is considered an iconic figure in contemporary Indian literature. Bond has received such awards as the Sahitya Akademi award for English writing for his short story collection "Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra," and the Padma Shri for his contributions to children's literature. Referred to as "reclusive" and "media shy," while Bond does do book signings in India, signed copies of his work seem to be quite rare outside of India. This volume, which is in several sections, consists of a 50pp+ history of the region, written by Bond, a reproduction of the magazine "Household Words," published by Dickens and containing an original article written by Australian John Lang (who was living in Mussoorie during the mid-1800s), a section labeled "A Mussoorie Miscellany," written and published by H.C. Williams during the 1930s, and a gorgeous selection of photographs taken by noted photographer Ganesh Sali of the people and natural wonders of the region. Total length is approx. 150pp (sne sections unpaginated). On the title page is Bond's signature beneath an inscritpion reading "XXX and XXX, Happy reading, Happy teaching." and dated by Bond 28/12/92. There is also an inscription from the original owners to the individuals to whom the book was sent as a gift. Pages clean, binding sound, dj bright and clean.
