The endpaper and title page has '839/1190' handwritten. The inside of the front cover has the bookplate of noted Scandinavian collector Herman Gimmestad. Hinges are tight. Text is unmarked. The dust wrapper has edgewear and rubbing with small chips at the edges and tape repairs at the head and heel on the verso. Hinges solid; binding square. Evidently volume five (femte bind) in the full set, but volume two (anden afdelsing) in this particular portion of it; the previous volume must cover the history of Norway up to 1660. Profusely illustrated with lithographs and woodcuts, with a number of color plates, some folding. Decorated endpapers. Paginated from p.1073 to p.2206. Once the property of Professor of Scandinavian Languages at the University of Wisconsin (Madison) Rasmus B. Anderson. The front pastedown carries the gift bookplate from Anderson to the State Historical Scoiety of Wisconsin.
