This is the second volume in the Heritage series on Holmes, showing bullet hole VR design on both covers, along with the raised profile of Sherlock on front board, matching the earlier and later volumes. Volume I and III, "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" and "The Final Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" respectively were numbered sequentially, with the practice being expanded to the present volume which begins on page 767 and ends on page 1222. . A definitive text, corrected and edited by Edgar W. Smith. Illustrated with a selective collation of the original illustrations by Frederic Dorr Steele, Sidney Paget, et alia. Contents of this volume are: "The Return of Sherlock Holmes" and "Hound of the Baskervilles". Sandglass laid-in. Original onion skin wrapper present, albeit separated, torn and generally quite worse for wear. It has however done an excellent job of protecting the book which is in near as new condition.
