An ex-library copy with library numbers on the spine and reverse of the title page. There is a two-inch tear along the front gutter, fraying at the spine ends and corners and soiling. Binding is secure and the text block is free of markings. The third book of the author's war memoirs during World War I. After the war the author served in the merchant marine and then took the next logical step and moved to Canada to become a farmer. In fact, his career as a farmer was short and he moved on and tried a long list of occupations.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good +/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Madeira Park, BC: Harbour Publishing, 1992 216pp. A biography of Duncan Bell-Irving who, at the beginning of World War I, developed the techniques of aerial combat while flying for the Royal Flying Corps. He was the first Canadian air ace and became director at the training school for pilots at Gosport. The author, who is Bell-Irving's daughter, used his diaries, flight logs, and letters and photographs as background for her biography. Illustrated with photographs, maps, and drawings.
