1994. BROWN, James. I Am For That. By Max Blagg. Three paper folders wrapped in Bedouin silk, in a protective mylar cover, in a new cloth folding box. San Francisco: Hine Editions, 1994. Divided into three sections, this unorthodox book consists of original drawings, engraving, collage and a hand written poem. Using paper handmade by students in Morocco as well as paper from the renowned Dieu Donne, the sections are loosely inserted into a beautiful Bedouin silk wrapper. The overall feel of this book is completely unique. Signed on the colophon by Blagg and Brown. One of 17 copies.

1938. FASCISM. Il Fascio Primogenito. 456 pp., illustrated throughout. Folio, 360 x 290 mm., publisher's decorated cloth. Milano: Esperia, 1938 Possibly the most stunning of the many works of propaganda published to extol Fascism and Mussolini during his rule. In this work, the Italian fascist photobook reaches its apogee. The book exhibits a masterful use of typography and photography which truly combine to create a monumental work. As with almost all the other books in the genre there is an unfortunate overabundance of images of Il Duce. Minor soiling to the cloth, and 1 leaf with insignificant waterstains, otherwise in fine condition. OCLC lists only the copy in the Tate.

[iv], 226 pp. Oblong 8vo, 170 x 245 mm., bound in original embossed brown cloth, rebacked in tan calf, spine gilt. New York: Baker & Godwin, 1860. This illustrated catalog is a wonderful study of mid-nineteenth century American commerce. G. & D. Cook, established in 1794, produced this catalog not only to showcase their extensive line of carriages, but also to introduce the numerous commercial enterprises in and around New Haven, Connecticut. Ninety-seven of the 145 carriages found in the descriptive price list are illustrated. [Leningrad]: Knigoizdate'stvo Akademii khudozhetsv, [1927]. First edition of Yakov Chernikhov's extremely rare first book. Chernikhov (1889-1951) was an artistic visionary, best known for his elaborate architectural fantasies in his later works. The present book is an instructional for neophyte art students encouraging them to depict beauty and movement through abstract representations. Although a considerably more humble publication than his subsequent books, its fragile format has rendered it quite scarce. Neat ink ownership inscription on the cover and title page dated 1930. Novarra: Officine dell'Istituto Geografico de Agostini, 1936. A stunning example of fascist book design. Published by the Italian Foreign Ministry, this alphabet was presumably issued as propaganda for children of diplomats and foreign service employees to demonstrate Italy's superiority. Slight rubbing to the edges of the boards, but overall a fine copy. A book that is of great rarity with OCLC listing only copies at Princeton and Northwestern.
