ATLAS SHRUGGED. Signed

by Rand, Ayn

New York: Random House, 1957 Excellent Presentation Copy In Unusually Fine Condition. A splendid example of this Rand High Spot. First Edition, First issue, correctly priced dustwrapper with 10/57 on the lower front flap & the publisher's name in full on the bottom rear flap. Authentically inscribed on the front free endpaper in black fountain pen: " To Graham Porter / - Cordially - / Ayn Rand / 06/25/58" . Thick octavo, pp1171. Sharp, tight, fine binding, perfect text block without names, marks or blemishes in a lovely, bright original unrestored dustwrapper [two short closed tears at the bottom edge] in superb condition - rarely seen as such these days and very much more desirable than the occasional simply signed copies that periodically turn up. The Classic Rand - amongst all modern firsts, this dustwrapper is probably our favorite for its richness of design. Custom clamshell case in fine condition. A premium copy. Perrin A4.. Signed by Author. 1st Edition.

We have 6 copies available starting at $795.00.

Typed Letter Signed, explaining Atlas Shrugged: "This is precisely the manner in which capitalism was defeated by altruism--as I have shown you in ATLAS SHRUGGED. Remember that the morality presented in ATLAS SHRUGGED is new, unprecedented and radically opposed to all the traditional versions of morality. You cannot expect it to be accepted by everyone at once." Typed Letter Signed by Ayn Rand, to a college student, pointing out how her novel, Atlas Shrugged, illustrates the impracticality and immorality of collectivism, explaining that modern philosophy is the cause of the broken spirit of students today, encouraging her to learn to defend the "right ideas" and persuade others in order to build an "intellectual Renaissance," and enclosing a brochure concerning the lectures of objectivist Nathaniel Branden [not present]. 2 pages, 4to, personal stationery, written on separate sheets; horizontal folds. New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence.
